Grad society & events

Be heard as a collective group

As a graduate student of the Department of Medical Neuroscience, you are automatically a member of the Medical Neuroscience Graduate Student Society (MNGSS). We encourage you to have an active voice at meetings and in society decisions. All students have the opportunity to run for an executive position, and elections are held each academic year.

MNGSS meetings

Generally, meetings are held four times a year:

  • Summer Meeting (July)
  • Fall Meeting (September)
  • Winter Meeting (January)
  • Spring Meeting (April)

Representing our student body

As a graduate student society, we have the responsibility and opportunity to represent our student body to the faculty and to the university at large. The society president represents the student body at monthly faculty meetings. Representatives represent our student body in other areas of the university by attending various committee meetings.

Why should you get involved?

Getting involved in the MNGSS is a great way to meet current and new graduate students—and to get to know everyone better. By getting involved, you will be more informed and engaged with the department and the university as a whole. It's also an opportunity to be actively involved in shaping our environment and experiences here as graduate students.

Join us for some fun

As a society, we organize student outings, as well as fundraising events. We have planned curling events, entertainment at Christmas parties and departmental potlucks.
