Funding & support
Students with funding
Applicants who want to be considered for external scholarships like the Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship must apply to the Faculty of Graduate Studies Harmonized Scholarship program by January 15. You can, and are encouraged to, apply to the harmonized scholarships even before you apply to the university itself; material that you develop for the scholarship application, like the research proposal, can then be re-used for the university application.
All PhD applicants, in particular, should consider applying to the harmonized scholarships.
Master of Computer ScienceÌý
Strong Master of Computer Science applicants who are connected with, or who we are able to connect with, a supervisor Ìýare considered for Faculty funding. Faculty funding is based on merit and availability: about 20-25% of admitted MCS students receive funding. Those whoÌýareÌýadmitted with funding and who are making satisfactory progress are funded for tuition (excluding international differential fees) ±è±ô³Ü²õÌý$8,000 to $12,000 per year. Students are expected to complete their degree in five terms.
PhD in Computer Science
PhD students making satisfactory progress are fully funded for tuition and school fees,Ìý±è±ô³Ü²õÌýa minimum of $18,000Ìýper year for at least four years. This funding commitment includes a requirement to be a teaching assistant for two terms each year.
Please note:ÌýAll financial commitments are made on an individual basis and the terms of funding support will be set out in the offer and/or admission letter that students receive.
