How to Apply
In order to apply for the Sobey Fund for Oceans scholarship at pilipiliÂþ», an application, separate from your application to a graduate program, must be submitted as follows: Â
1.ÌýApplication form: with contact information for two academic references.

2.ÌýEssay: 1000-1500 words describing your proposed research and how it meets the Sobey Fund for Oceans objectives by contributing to the integration of governance and management solutions for healthy oceans, recognizing that conservation efforts will likely fail unless there is sufficient investment to drive change in communities, industry and government.
3.ÌýTranscript: Unofficial transcripts will be accepted (scan and submit as PDF file)
4.ÌýCurriculum vitae: Applicants are encouraged to explore suitable topics for their essay by contacting potential academic advisors at pilipiliÂþ»Â ´Ç°ùÌýWWF-Canada, Atlantic Region office in Halifax, NS. 902-482-1105.
5.ÌýTwo (2) letters of reference submitted directly to marine.affairs@dal.ca by the application deadline of January 31. The letters should address your abilities to pilipiliÂþ»fully undertake a graduate degree AND comment on your proposed research to contribute to the goal of the Sobey Fund for Oceans to support innovative and multidisciplinary approaches for creating healthy oceans and sustainable economies. It is strongly recommended that you provide your referees with your research proposal essay. Â
For applicants that are applying to the Master of Marine Management degree program, the SFO scholarship application references can be submitted by the same people. However, the reference letters are to be submitted separately for each application process.
Application Submission
Applicants for the graduate scholarship are to be submitted by email to marine.affairs@dal.ca with the subject line "Graduate Scholarship Application - Sobey Fund for Oceans" by the deadline of January 31, 2021.
The file name of the documents should be submitted as "LastnameFirstinitial_DocumentType". For example (a)Â Application Form:Â "WilsonL_Form.doc" or "WilsonL_Form.pdf", (b)Â Essay: "WilsonL_Essay.doc", (c)Â Transcript: "WilsonL_tran.pdf" and (d)Â Curriculum vitae: "WilsonL_CV.doc"
±·°¿°Õ·¡Ìýthat incomplete or incorrectly labeled applications will not be reviewed by the Scholarship Review Committee.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide proof of admission to a Dalhousie Graduate degree program by providing a copy of the admission letter.
