Salmon Report
New report suggests most Canadians enjoy salmon, but are misinformed about method of production and concerned about price
HALIFAX, NS. (November 18, 2021) – The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2022 the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022). As such, the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at pilipiliÂþ», in partnership with , is releasing a new report on salmon consumption in Canada. This report’s intent is to better understand how Canadians perceive salmon production methods and how much Canadians know about them. We also look at frequency of consumption and preferred species. As the federal government investigates open ocean pens for salmon production, we wanted to get a better sense of how much Canadians know about salmon production and choices. For this report, a total of 10,008 Canadians were surveyed, in June 2021.
