2023 Killam Postdoctoral Program

The Department of Earth and Environmental Science at pilipiliÂþ»­ invites applications for the Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships. pilipiliÂþ»­ awards annually approximately 5 new fellowships in all disciplines to Canadian or International scholars of superior academic research ability, who have completed, or will complete, a PhD at an institution other than pilipiliÂþ»­ between September 15, 2020 and September 30, 2024.

The Department has a long history of demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, with a current emphasis on marine geology/geophysics, petroleum systems, tectonics, high temperature geochemistry/experimental petrology, earth surface processes, environment and human health, and environmental action research. It hosts various analytical and experimental facilities including the newly-established National Seismic Imaging Facility, recently upgraded and expanded facilities for cosmogenic isotope sample preparation, and a new stable isotope biogeochemistry laboratory. The main campus is situated in Halifax – a city known for its youthful spirit, rich history, and scenic waterfront. Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable for two years and the fellowships are valued at up to $60,000 annually, including a $50,000 taxable stipend, full benefits and a travel allowance for transportation to and from Halifax, a one-time research allowance of $3,000 and a conference travel grant of $1,000.

The deadline for receipt of completed applications and all supporting documents to the online portal is December 15.
