EAP Program Policies

When you are accepted into the EAP Program, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance and a Letter for Visa Purposes. These two documents outline the length of time you will study in the EAP Program, what the total cost will be and other important information.

Once you begin the course, you will have access to the Student Orientation handbook and the course outline for each course. These documents have a full list of policies and rules for the EAP Program. These include the following information:

  • Program Rules
  • Attendance and Engagement Policy
  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Grading Policy
  • Information about Transcripts and Program Completion Certificates

Health Insurance Requirement
Students who are living in Canada and hold a Study Permit are required by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are required to carry valid health insurance at all times. EAP students living in Canada will be automatically enrolled in a health insurance plan. You will make the payment for this and receive your insurance card during the first week of classes. The cost to you per day for insurance is currently around $1.70 / day. This cost is in addition to the tuition fee.

If your health insurance is being sponsored by a government or scholarship provider, or if you have coverage under any Canada’s provincial health plan, a copy of the policy or health insurance card must be provided during the first week of classes. 

EAP Course Fee Policy

Students will not be admitted to class until their tuition for that course has been paid in full.

If needed, special arrangements for a payment calendar can be made. Please contact us before the term starts at els@dal.ca.

EAP Program Refund & Withdrawl Policy

Please review the EAP program .

Application fee: $200 (non-refundable)


How to Pay For Your Course

Please follow the steps below in order to pay for your course. Instructions are provided if you have a credit card and if you do not have a credit card. Please follow the instructions specific to your needs.Ìý

I have a credit card (Visa or MasterCard)

1.ÌýÌýto log into the DalhousieÌýFaculty of Open Learning & Career Development student portal.
2. Click on My Account History
3. Click on Transaction No.
4. Click on Pay Invoice
5. Pay your invoice using a credit card.

After you have completed the Online Payment, you will receive a receipt by email. If you want to pay for more than one level of the EAP program, please send an email toÌýels@dal.caÌýto request this.Ìý

I am outside of Canada and want to pay with a foreign currency - Convera I am in Canada and have a Canadian bank account - Dalhousie Student Accounts I am in Canada and want to pay in person at the ELS Front Desk
Click hereÌýand follow the step-by-step instructions on how to use Convera. You must have a pilipiliÂþ»­ Student ID number (B00#) if you want to pay this way. Payment can be made in-person at theÌýFaculty of Open Learning & Career Development reception desk on Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Located atÌý1459 LeMarchant Street, Suite 2201, 2nd Floor)
It is very important that on the first page of the Convera form that you include a note that says: "Open Learning ELS Programs." You can either go to your bank in person and make the payment there or log into your online banking and make the payment through online bank transfer. Ìý
After you complete the payment using Convera, you will get an email confirmation.

How to make the payment through online banking:

1. Add "pilipiliÂþ»­" as a new payee to your online banking

2. Put your B00# as your account numbers/customer number

3. Make a payment to pilipiliÂþ»­ from your bank account and enter the amount you want to pay.

4. Please send an email to els@dal.caÌýand give the permission for us to take the exact amount of money from our Dalhousie Student Accounts.Ìý

You must send an email toÌýels@dal.caÌýwith a copy of your confirmation from Convera. It must contain the date of payment as well as the amount (in Canadian dollars) that you paid.Ìý Ìý Ìý
If you pay through Convera, you may need to wait 5-10 business days before pilipiliÂþ»­ ELS Programs can send you a receipt.Ìý
