On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, I am pleased to announce that Dr. OmiSoore Dryden has been appointed Interim Director of the Black Studies Research Institute at pilipili漫画. Dr. Dryden鈥檚 appointment is effective April 1, 2022 - June 30, 2025.

Dr. Dryden, a Black queer femme, is Dalhousie鈥檚 fourth James R. Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies. She is engaged in interdisciplinary scholarship and research that focuses on Black LGBTQI communities, blood donation systems in Canada, anti-Black racism in health care, medical education, and Black health curricular content development. ... read more

DAL NEWS: Chair Chats - Connecting through shared experiences...

In September 2019, the JRJ Chair in Black Canadian Studies (Faculty of Medicine) held the first ever Chair Chat. Chair Chats provide an opportunity for Black medical students, Black students in Health professions (dentistry, nursing, pharmacology, etc.), and Black Graduate students (across disciplines) to gather and discuss their experience as Black students, along with exploring the field of Black studies and strategizing around issues of anti-black racism. Chair Chats occur once a month from September - April (except December).

JRJ Chair Chats have concluded with the end of the Chair's appointment in the Faculty of Medicine. Thank you for joining!
