PURPOSE: To provide faculty information on available experiential resources around campus AND to facilitate the initial process for them to incorporate them into their course activities.
SUMMARY: It has been identified that experiential learning resources, such as the farm, the RAC, the Demonstration Garden, etc. are historically underused.Ā Therefore, given the heightened awareness of the importance of hands-on learning for our students, the following event will happen over the course of the first 10 days in November.
Experiential resources around campus were invited to produce a 5-10 minute video highlighting their area, and what they might have to offer faculty/students related to experiential learning opportunities.Ā
These videos will be made available for individual faculty to view at their leisure, approximately one week prior to the main event which will happen on November 10th.Ā At the main event, the campus resource personnel will be stationed and ready to have 10-15 minute āspeed datesā with individual faculty in order to initiate the conversation on potential collaboration.Ā These can occur in person or online if needed.
Watch for more details as November 10th draws near!
AN EXAMPLE
Dara Pelkey-Field mentioned that in the horse stables, the landscaping could be a design project for the landscape architecture courses ā researching to determine the best plants and landscape based on both landscape principles and equine animal welfare.Ā It could even be a joint project between the Equine Facilities course and Landscape Architecture.
If you have any questions, or would like to bounce ideas off me, please let me know and we can set up a quick meeting.
