Rams Weekend Recap

Women’s Volleyball

Dal AC vs UKC – Feb. 22

This Saturday at the Kingdome the UKC Blue Devils took on the Dal AC Rams in a tough fought match. All three sets were close with the Blue Devils taking each set by a slim margin. The UKC team was led by attacks by number 6, Leah Hartlen and setting efforts by captain number 13, Isabelle Roach. For the Dalhousie Rams, leading contributors included number 5, Marit Zwinselman and number 14, Samantha Nichols. The UKC Blue Devils took all three sets with final scores for each set 29-27, 25-20, and 25-23. 

MSVU vs Dal AC – Feb 23

The Dal AC Rams defeated the MSVU Mystics three sets to one on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. Dal AC was led by their strong veteran presence, with seniors Maggie MacLeod, Samantha Nichols and Xenna Mazal leading the charge in their final home games as members of the Rams women's volleyball team. Notable efforts from Onye Njoku and Marcy MacNeil spurred a strong resistance from the Mystics however it was not enough on the afternoon.

Next up for both teams is a trip to Sackville, New Brunswick for the ACAA Championships hosted by Mount Allison University on February 28th and 29th. Best of luck to both teams as they push towards a league championship.

DAL AC Athletes of the Week

Marit Zwinselman (Volleyball)

Marit had another dominating weekend leading the RAMS against UKC and MSVU. Against MSVU she had an impressive 16 kills and 23 digs.

Mariah Putnam (Volleyball)

Mariah continues to impress in her first season with the RAMS and has become the definition of a “gamer”, always giving 100% and providing the team with an opportunity to win. She was especially strong this weekend totalling 23 assists and 12 digs against UKC and 33 assists and 12 digs versus MSVU who the RAMS took 2/3 matches from this season.
