Final round of recruitment is going on for an exciting study abroad program in India.
The Tropical Agriculture Course, a three weeks long course will take place at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). Dr. Balakrishnan Prithiviraj and Dr. Samuel Asiedu will be teaching this course in collaboration with the Faculty from the host university. The tentative date for this program is from April 25, 2020 to May 13, 2020. Guaranteed funding is still available for couple of students.
This course will cover a vast area of agriculture in Southern India. Students will learn about variety of crops which grow in tropical climate, e.g. they will learn about rice production, tea cultivation, production and marketing, cotton production and storage etc. Students will also learn about some specific cattle breeds, which are native to India. It will be a great chance for them to learn about management of these animal husbandry in India. The instructors will visit the local animal auction market and local produce markets to give the students an idea about the agriculture business in India.
Finally, cultural orientation is a big part of this trip. Students will visit some local temples, one of the largest yoga centers in the world and some other places to get exposure to indian culture and heritage. This trip also includes a 3 day log trip to Delhi, where students will visit Tajmahal, Qutub Minar, Delhi market and some other places to get a better idea about the lifestyle in the 4th largest megacity in the world.
International at Dal AC is accepting applications from the interested candidates and the application deadline is December 10, 2019. There is no pre-requisite for this course and students from any year or department can take this course. The course fee for this 3 weeks long 3 credit course is $3900, which includes accommodation, airfare, food and many other costs. First 15 candidates will receive guaranteed $1000 funding on first come first seat basis, in addition to other financial aid options. All these supports has made this fieldtrip affordable and lucrative for the students who wants to visit other countries to learn, develop and get the cultural exposure.
