Matthew Guy, Director of Student Success at the Faculty of Agriculture was the recipient of the AACUSS Award of Merit at their annual conference held at Mount Saint Vincent University last weekend.

The Atlantic Association of College & University Student Services (AACUSS) comes together each spring to reconnect with colleagues, share ideas, programs and accomplishments and collaborate on new opportunities with student service professionals across the region.

Initiated in 1984, the Award of Merit is the highest honour the Association gives to one of its members. The Award of Merit is in recognition of significant achievement and distinguished contribution to the development and promotion of Student Services in the Atlantic Region and active participation within the Association itself. Active participation is defined as long-standing attendance at annual AACUSS conferences, facilitating workshops, giving presentations and/or serving on the AACUSS Executive. The Award is based on merit and therefore, may not be presented every year.

Matthew’s contributions to AACUSS over the years has been plentiful. While Acadia University and now Dalhousie have been blessed with Matthew’s many talents and enthusiasm, so has AACUSS.

“Matthew has served many roles, in fact too many for me to recount,” said Heather Doyle, Past President of AACUSS. “Most recently he served as President, Past-President and Secretary. Although many may not know Matthew’s full commitment to the organization, for anyone that sits on the Executive, knows it goes beyond his formal roles,” she added.

“Matthew was a quiet leader, going above and beyond to do what it took to ensure the organization was running effectively and efficiently," she added "When Matthew 'retired' from the Executive, his contributions became apparent. Although Matthew may no longer be on the executive, his hard work and dedication will live on."

Congratulations Matthew!
