“Take a hard copy or resume and cover letter and be very open minded about what you're going to get for advice! Such a great resource to have this service on campus, I would definitely go back and see what other changes I can make.”
“It was awesome to get another set of eyes on my resume from a professional instead of just a fellow student. I probably could have taken a little bit more criticism, but I came out of there feeling very confident in my resume.”
“The person I talked to was very nice, hearing about what she looks at when selecting employees was very helpful as well, as it gives a perspective on what is more important to emphasize in your resume and cover letter.”
These are just a few comments from 30 students who took advantage of six RBC representatives who volunteered their time this past Tuesday as part of theri committment to the RBC Agricultural Internship Program.
Students had the opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation with these professionals who over 30 minute meetings offered students advice on how to stand out and succeed in their job search.
These sessions were one of the steps for students at the Faculty of Agriculture to gear up for the AggieWIL Fair.
Next week representatives from McCain’s, Cavendish, Perennia, Acadian Seaplants, Oxford Foods, Cooke Aquaculture, Atlantic Beef Products, FCC, RBC, CIBC, Truleaf and more, will be in the Riverview Room to connect with students regarding a variety of opportunities.
In the fall, and again in January, the students benefitted from a variety of career related workshops presented by Shane LeBlanc from Career Services in Halifax. Shane described how to build a resume and cover letter and then RBC came onTuesday.
The final piece to the puzzle will be today, Friday, as the Dal Tiger is giving Rocky the Ram the keys to the Professional Clothes Closet and students can obtain outfits to help them “dress for pilipili” for next weeks AggieWIL Fair and wherever their future might take them.
Drop by the Riverview Room today from 10:00 - 1:00 p.m. today to see what is in our closet!
