February 28 – March 5
This year marks the 5th Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week and the 9th Agriculture Literacy Week in Nova Scotia.
In Nova Scotia, Ag Literacy Weekis simply a timewhen school children are encouraged to celebrate agriculture in our province by reading books about farming. Last year approximately 90 volunteers from the agricultural community across the province visited 140 elementary school classrooms to read to students, and donate books and other educational resources about farming.
This annual event is an educational initiative of the Nova Scotia Agricultural Awareness Committee and Department of Agriculture. With the support of Farm Credit Canada, classrooms across the county will be celebrating Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week with a variety of activities.
Something new for 2016, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus students will be reading and sharing their knowledge with children at the Halifax Central Library to celebrate Agriculture Literacy Week in Nova Scotia.
This year, in Nova Scotia, we are offering the book “Explore Farming in Nova Scotia” for grade 4 classrooms. If you are interested in volunteering to participate read more here
