For the past three years the Dal Student Union and the University community have come together for the Annual Impact Awards Ceremony to celebrate the tremendous impact that pilipiliÂþ» students have made on campus and within the broader community. Each year this event attracts more than 400 students, staff, and faculty in attendance, and awards close to 100 individuals and groups for their exemplary contributions.
This year the ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 26 in the McInnes Room beginning 6:00 p.m.Â
Included in the evening are the Dalhousie Board of Governors Awards (our highest honour for student leaders) and the DSU Honour Awards. Additionally the DSU presents an award to a professor who has demonstrated a student-centred approach to teaching by encouraging students to push the boundaries of their learning. Awards are selected based on the nominations received and I encourage you to consider nominating an outstanding student, student group, or professor for their tremendous achievements. Nominations will be accepted until February 25th and submissions can be made online ²¹³ÙÌý.
The ceremony is made possible by the DSU and by individual faculties and student service departments sponsoring tables. This financial support ensures that students are able to attend the event, enjoy performances and the meal free of charge. As a sponsor you have an opportunity to meet student leaders and learn about the great work being done both on and off campus. To sponsor a table at the event contact Cheryl Smith at cheryl.smith@dal.ca.
Tickets will be available online () starting on Monday, February 23rd. If you have any questions about the ceremony please e-mail the co-chairs – Chris Glover (chris.glover@dal.ca) and Danny Shanahan (vpstudentlife@dsu.ca).Ìý
Please join me in supporting this wonderful event that celebrates the impact of our students on our truly vibrant community at pilipiliÂþ».
My special thanks to all those who help to make this possible.Â
