Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA)

NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) sponsors a program of awards to outstanding undergraduate students. These awards are meant to encourage undergraduate students to undertake graduate studies and pursue a research career in the natural sciences and engineering.Ìý

The purpose of the award is to supplement the salary of a summer student who is working on an individual research project, designed in conjunction with a faculty member who holds an NSERC Research Grant.Ìý Faculty of Agriculture has four awards to be held in the summer of 2014.Ìý

Students must work full-time (16 weeks) in research and development in the natural sciences and engineering during tenure of the award.Ìý To be eligible, students must:

- be Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

- be registered in a bachelor's degree program (at the time of application) in the natural sciences or engineering.

- have completed all the course requirements of at least the first year of university study (or two academic terms) of your bachelor’s degree.Ìý Students graduating in May are eligible to hold an award.

- have a minimum cumulative average of B- (70%).

- not have already held three previous other USRA awards.
