Ali Sié
Ali Sié is a medical doctor who obtained his MD degree in 1998 at Ouagadougou University. He is currently working towards completion of his PhD training on Meningitis Epidemiology at Heidelberg University, Germany.ÌýHe started his career in 1999, working in Banfora’s regional hospital and the Ministry of Health, Burkina Faso as a Clinician for five years. In 2004, he began work as a health research fellow, developing the clinical research component at Nouna Health Research Centre, Ministry of Health, Burkina Faso. He was appointed as Head of Research and Training Unit in 2005 before leading the CRSN as Director since 2006.
Since 2004, he has been instrumental in the implementation of a sustainable clinical setting in Nouna hospital for clinical research. His main research area is epidemiology and clinical trials of infectious diseases, primarily focussed on meningitis, malaria and HIV. He is also interested in conducting scientific investigation of health conditions and health systems and in supervising local masters and doctoral students.
Dr Ali Sié is knowledgeable from the both clinical/scientific and management/administrative perspective. He has authored/co-authored more than 20 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has pilipiliÂþ»fully coordinated several international projects as PI. He has held several management positoins since 2000 (at hospitals and the CRSN) and is currently the director of the CRSN, which demonstrates his aptitude in high-level administration and management.Ìý
