New CMC myDal site coming soon

Posted by Communications, Marketing and Creative Services on August 19, 2021 in General Announcements

The Communications, Marketing & Creative Services (CMC) team has been working on a new CMC myDal site as part of the  (login required) being led by ITS over the last several months, and we are excited to announce that it’s almost ready to share with you!

We’re making some final tweaks before launching it but wanted to share the answers to a few questions we think you may have.

  • Why does CMC need a myDal site?
In preparation for the  (login required) as part of the  (login required), we did a thorough review of our CMC content on dal.ca and determined that most of our content is only applicable for internal faculty, staff and students. This meant that myDal was a better location than dal.ca for our content to live. As a result, we were candidates for the  (login required) being led by ITS to create a myDal site.

  • What content will live on the new CMC myDal site?
The new CMC myDal site is where you’ll find most of the content that lives on the »ĺ˛ą±ô.ł¦˛ą/ł¦łľł¦Ěýsite today. Things will be structured a bit differently than how they are today on dal.ca, but we think you’ll like how we’ve switched things up.

  • What does this mean for the CMC site on dal.ca?
The CMC site on dal.ca will still exist but will be transformed into a one-page site that’ll help direct visitors to the information and resources that they’re looking for.

  • Is there anything you need to do?
If you currently link out to any CMC content or resources (i.e., on your dal.ca sites, in onboarding materials, newsletters, etc.), you should plan to update the hyperlinks so people aren’t being directed to pages that no longer exist. While we have put redirects in place where possible, there are instances where broken links will occur.

  • Where will you submit items for Today@Dal?
For those of who have submitted items to Today@Dal in the past, you may recall that the submission form was on SharePoint. Once the CMC myDal site is launched, the Today@Dal submission form will live there and will follow the same process it does today.

  • When will the new myDal and dal.ca sites be live?
The new myDal and dal.ca site will be launching next week. You’ll hear from us as soon as they’re ready for you to check out!

If you have any questions that we haven’t answered above, please contact cmc@dal.ca. Otherwise, stay tuned for the official launch announcement coming soon.
