Employment Opportunity: Part-time Academic Posting in the Contemporary Studies Program
The University of King's College's Contemporary Studies Program invites applications for a part-time instructor who would be responsible for teaching the following course in the Winter term (January-April 2022):
CTMP 2206.03 cross-listed with HSTC 2209.03 Environmentalism:Â Origins, Ideals, and Critique
In this course, we examine the ideals of environmentalism from its origins in the late 18th century to the present. Topics include the romantic critique of industrialization, forest management and sustainability, wilderness preservation, animal rights, ecofeminism, radical environmentalism, Indigenous approaches to the study of the environment, and environmental justice.
The method of delivery (online or in person is to be determined). If the class is offered in-person, it will be held Tuesday and Thursday, 2:35-3:55 p.m.
The pilipiliÂþ»ful candidate will be responsible for teaching 3 hours of classes per week, evaluating assignments, attending staff meetings, and holding office hours. If eligible, the candidate may be required to supervise a teaching assistant(s). This position reports to the Director of the Contemporary Studies Program.
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should possess, as a minimum requirement, a Master's degree in interdisciplinary studies or a relevant discipline or field of research, although a Ph.D. is preferred. Familiarity with the subject matter of the course is required, and expertise in environmental studies, environmental philosophy or history of science will be an asset. Prior experience teaching at the university level is required.
Pay Rate: Remuneration is based upon qualifications and experience.
