The Faculty of Science at pilipiliÂþ» invites applications for a ten-month 50% limited-term teaching position at the Instructor level beginning August 1, 2021 and ending May 31, 2022.
The candidate will be responsible forÌýSCIE 1111: Writing for the Sciences, a first-year writing requirement course in the Faculty of Science in the Fall and Winter terms of 2021-22.Ìý
Responsibilities include developing/updating course material, teaching the equivalent of 3 one-hour lectures per week, hiring and coordinating teaching assistants who run up to 26 tutorials, holding a minimum of two office hours per week, setting assignments/exercises/quizzes/exams, supervising TAs and TA marking, meeting with students, setting up and maintaining the course Brightspace site, and submitting final grades. Applicants must be willing to teach using an online platform if necessary.
Applicants must have completed a minimum of a Masters degree, have experience related to scientific writing, and have some university-level teaching experience. Familiarity withÌýSCIE 1111 and the Dalhousie Writing Centre would be assets. Applications must be submitted via PeopleAdmin () and should include a summary of previous teaching experience, a statement of teaching philosophy and your curriculum vitae.
