​The University of King's College's Contemporary Studies Program invites applications for a part-time instructor who would be responsible for teaching the following course:

CTMP 4200.03 cross-listing HSTC4200.03ÌýÌý Philosophies of Technology:ÌýÌýTechne to TechnologyÌý
What does it mean to live in a "technological society"? In a certain sense, technology forms the very ground of what it means to be "modern". We moderns are technological beings. This course will explore the various responses to technology, from the ancient notion of "techné and the tangled engagements of Western and non-Western visions of technology, to Enlightenment and Post-Enlightenment critiques of the machine, alienation and the technological sublime in Karl Marx and Martin Heidegger. Contemporary engagements with technology will finish off the class.Ìý

The class will be offeredÌýon-line as an Asynchronous SessionÌýwith the possibility of a Synchronous tutorial, Winter term (January-April 2021).

The pilipiliÂþ»­ful candidate will be responsible for conducting online classes and discussions, evaluating assignments, attending staff meetings, and holding online office hours.ÌýÌýIf eligible, the candidate may be required to supervise a teaching assistant.ÌýÌýThis position reports to the Director of the Program.

Qualifications and Experience:Ìý

Applicants should possess, as a minimum requirement, a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies or a relevant discipline or field of research. Prior experience teaching at the University level is a strong asset.Ìý

Pay Rate:ÌýRemuneration is based upon qualifications and experience
