The Dalhousie Librariesā seed library has launched a new garden kit initiative.Ā The goal of this is to help promote food literacy while also encouragingĀ active bodies, curiosity & wellnessĀ amongst our community. Ā
To celebrate the start of the 2020 Canadian Environment Week, the Office of Sustainability will be running aĀ social mediaĀ competition from May 29-June 5 where you canĀ enter to winĀ one ofĀ theseĀ seed kits, all you need to do is tag us in a pictureĀ ofĀ how you have been enjoying theĀ outdoorsĀ eitherĀ on Twitter or Facebook and include the hashtagĀ #growgoodthings! We will reach out toĀ the winners with details onĀ delivering your prizes. Ā
Each garden kit contains an average of 5 varieties of seed along with tip sheets, growing instructions, and a crop descriptor form if kit recipients want to take part in a national initiative to document the resilient traits of open-pollinatedĀ plants.āÆAlso included are instructions for saving some of the seeds for next year. Please note there is no expectation for seedsĀ to be returned to Dalhousieās seed library at this time, this is our gift in gratitude for allĀ thatĀ our community does to nourish us.
We look forward toĀ seedingĀ your photos!Ā ā
