POSITION:  TWO 0.2 FTE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INSTRUCTORS

(average of 8 hours per week) : FALL and WINTER TERM 2019/20 (8 months mid-

August to mid- April)

We are looking for two 0.2 FTE instructors to be responsible to support:

  • lab Coordination and tutoring.
  • lecturing and course content development.
  • collaborative teaching and student evaluation activities and practice simulation in occupational therapy courses including but not limited to student presentations and projects, simulated client exams, and interprofessional learning.
  • administrative duties in the School of Occupational Therapy and other duties as assigned.

PAY RATE: According to the CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Under the guidance of the Course Professor, and/or the lab coordinators the teaching support instructors will be required to prepare materials in advance of labs, to work in a timely manner to prepare and manage equipment and room set up pre and post labs, and to work to support the tutors, where appropriate and course instructor to ensure efficient coordination of the labs. In addition to the assignments listed above, Instructors may be required to tutor, to attend on-site special events labs or exams on alternative days with advanced notice. Off-site preparation for some courses may also be required. Instructors are required to attend orientation sessions prior to the academic term (to be scheduled). As time permits, other duties may be required to assist with lab preparation, support for course instruction, management of data online on educational sites, develop and prepare cases, coordinate and manage efficient assessment library daily/weekly operations and/or delivery of events related to course work and special events.

REQUIREMENTS: Excellent communication and organizational skills and scheduling flexibility. Good computer skills and use of the internet required for literature searches and course support. Must hold an entry-to-practice qualification in occupational therapy. A Master’s degree is preferred. Clinical experience in pediatric and adolescent practice is required for one 0.2 FTE instructor with Mental Health clinical practice experience as an asset. Clinical experience with neuro clinical practice is an asset in one 0.2 FTE instructor. Current registration as a licensed occupational therapist required.
