WORK ASSIGNMENT:

Co-Lecturer for NURS5610.03 – Advanced Practice Role Development (Winter term of the academic year 2018-2019)

The focus of this course is the role of advanced practice nurses in health care. Emphasis will be on the examination and critique of the role components of the clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner and combined roles. These components include: direct care, consultation, coaching, research, collaboration, leadership/administration and ethical decision-making. Issues surrounding the implementation of these roles within various health care contexts and clinical specialties will be discussed.

This is a 3-credit hour course with lectures being held on Wednesdays, 17:35 – 20:25, from January 7, 2019 until April 5, 2019. This appointment is a half-credit course and runs from January 1, 2019 through April 30, 2019. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
Participate in delivery and co-ordination of the course
Assessment and evaluation of student learning
Use of the course management system (Brightspace) for course delivery
Responding to student queries about coursework
Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning services
Participation in course discussions within the program
Participate in the development and administration of assignments
Follow up with students as necessary
Participate in relevant Nurse Practitioner curriculum work
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. Doctoral degree preferred, and current experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
