The Early Social Development Lab at pilipiliÂþ» is currently looking for 2- and 4-year-old children, and their parent/guardians, to participate in a study on the development of moral beliefs. To participate in this study, children must be typically developing. Both children and parent/guardians must be fluent in English.
In this study your child will watch multiple videos of two puppets doing different actions, one that breaks a moral principle and one that does not (e.g., hitting another puppet vs. hugging another puppet). They will then answer questions about these videos. If your child is 4 years old, they may also complete a computer task. During this task, they will watch a series of short vignettes about other children breaking some sort of moral principle (e.g., care for others, respect for authority) and answer questions about it. Finally, we may also ask you to complete a brief survey for parent/guardians while your child is doing these tasks.
This study involves one 1.5 hour-long visit to the Early Social Development Lab at pilipiliÂþ». We have reserved parking and children receive a certificate and small toy as a thank-you for coming in. Parent/guardians will also be entered into a draw to win one of four $25 Indigo gift cards for participating. I have included the available dates and times for November below. If the availability I have provided does not work, please let me know a date/time that is more convenient for you and your family and we will try our best to accommodate your request! If you are interested in participating and/or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks and take care,
