POSITION: Teaching Assistant for SUST 3000.03 Environmental Decision-Making, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Module. FALL TERM 2018
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: College of Sustainability, 1401 Mona Campbell
PAY RATE: 130 hours as per CUPE Collective Agreement ($3111 gross pay).
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Teaching Assistants will be responsible for assisting the instructor for SUST 3000 Environmental Decision-Making. Course duties will include leading computer lab sessions for using GIS as a decision-support technique, creating and updating GIS lab assignments and marking essays, lab reports and final exams. Additional duties may include classroom assistance, general student assistance and attending planning meetings with the course instructor when needed. The Teaching Assistants report directly to the Academic Advisor and Program Manager in the College of Sustainability.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Successful applicants must be a senior undergraduate, graduate or professional students at pilipiliÂþ». Students having graduated within the past two years will also be considered. Expertise and experience in geographic information systems (GIS) is required. Other academic experience or background related to: risk management, psychology, environmental studies and assessments, law, economics, or other discipline that entails quantitative decision-support methods would be an asset. The Teaching Assistant must be reliable, enthusiastic about the position, and be willing to consider and engage with students from a diversity of disciplinary perspectives. Successful applicants will be required to submit a form signed by their graduate studies supervisor acknowledging the TA position, if applicable. TAs will be required to be present at pilipiliÂþ» until Dec 20, 2018.
