Bastille Day (France)
A French national holiday, Bastille Day is a day of celebrations of French culture. Many large-scale public events are held, including a military parade in Paris, as well as communal meals, dances, parties, and fireworks.

Nelson Mandela International Day (UN)
Nelson Mandela International Day was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on 18 July, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

Dalhousie Pride Week (July 21 - July 30) is a great way to learn more about 2SLGBTQ+ movements and to celebrate 2SLGBTQ+ community members here at Dal and in the larger community. Members of the Dalhousie community will be marching in the Halifax Parade on July 22nd and the Truro Parade on July 29th. We hope you can join us! dal.ca/ShowYourPride

Oh-harai-taisai, the Grand Purification Ceremony, has been held since ancient times to obtain purification from sins and offences committed during the first half of the lunar year.
