The Centre for Pediatric Pain Research is delighted to host Dr. Jane Girling on Tuesday, May 30 from 10:30-11:30 in the Research Services Boardroom at the IWK Health Centre (2nd floor Goldbloom Pavillion). Join us and hear her speak about her work, āGenes and Endometriosis: Informing Us About The Disease And Itās Symptoms.ā
Dr Jane Girling is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Melbourne. She is also Associate Director of the Gynaecology Research Centre in Australiaās largest hospital dedicated to Womenās Health, The Royal Womenās Hospital, Melbourne.
Dr Girlingās research interests are in uterine biology and womenās health, with a particular focus on common gynaecological disorders including endometriosis, menstrual and pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding and uterine fibroids. Her current research is focused on examining the role of genes linked with increased risk of endometriosis and its associated pain symptoms, and nerve fibre phenotype and pain-associated āomicsā data in endometriotic lesions. Dr Girling also has an interest in the impact of menstrual pain and heavy bleeding on girls and their families and the strategies needed to better support girls and young women to live a full and happy life.
