The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at pilipiliÂþ»­ invites applications for a 12-month 60% Limited-Term Instructor position commencing 
August 1, 2016. The instructor will be responsible for teaching two or three sections of a third-year Neuroscience lab class in addition to one or two classes in our Neuroscience program. 

The Instructor will be responsible for all lectures, for supervising lab sessions, for test preparation, and for exam administration and evaluation (including supplemental examinations) and will also be available for at least two hours per week for student consultation.

Student project supervision and engagement in departmental administration throughout the full year is also expected.

The laboratory class requires experience and proficiency in some or all of the following methods: confocal microscopy, immunocytochemistry, high-performance liquid chromatography, visualization of neurotransmitter systems, and electron microscopy of neurons and synapses. In accordance with previous years, the class will most likely make use of preparations from vertebrate retinas and insect brains.

Applicants should have a PhD in Neuro- or Biological Sciences, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and previous experience teaching this or very similar material.

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at pilipiliÂþ»­ invites applications for a 12-month Instructor position commencing 1 July 2016. Assigned duties are equivalent to a nine half-credit course load distributed over a one-year period. 

The primary responsibility of the pilipiliÂþ»­ful candidate will be to organize and coordinate the laboratory sections associated with two half-credit methodology classes. Additional teaching includes two undergraduate level courses, and the organization of the third year independent project courses.

Duties entail organizing meetings of instructors and TAs, maintaining course material, student records, and functions on the Brightspace learning management system, selecting and supervising undergraduate TAs assisting with methods classes, and performing programming and statistical analyses for lab projects.

Additional responsibilities entail coordinating access for students in a variety of lab classes to a resident computer lab when required and assisting in implementing scheduled computer upgrades, program acquisition and renewal of site licenses for this lab. This includes maintaining the inventory of laboratory equipment, seeing to repairs, allocating equipment and undergraduate laboratory space for research projects in other classes.

Applicants should have an advanced degree in Psychology and some experience teaching in a university setting. Good computer skills are necessary. Experience with Mac OS system administration is required; and the candidate is expected to be proficient with a variety of programming languages, statistical software, and office applications (and be willing to learn new applications as needed), as well as data entry and file maintenance.

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at pilipiliÂþ»­ invites applications for a fulltime 12-month Instructor position commencing 1 July 2016.

The duties associated with this position will be equivalent to a nine half-credit course load distributed over a one-year period. Specifically, the Instructor will be responsible for teaching three courses in the Fall term, three courses in the Winter term, and one course in the Spring session. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Instructor will also have administrative and professional development responsibilities, such that work will fall into the following areas:
1. Teaching and teaching-related activities 80%
2. Academic administration activities 15%
3. Professional development 5%

In terms of administration responsibility, the Instructor will attend staff meetings, supervise student projects, provide statistical consultation, and serve on departmental committees as required or appropriate. The exact nature of the the administration responsibilities will be negotiated with the Chair of the Department.

In terms of professional development, the Instructor will remain current with developments in the teaching of Psychology and Neuroscience, participate in conferences, workshops, or relevant professional development classes as appropriate, as well as perform additional scholarly work as time permits.

Applicants should have an advanced degree in Psychology and/or Neuroscience, and experience teaching classes in a university setting. Experience teaching advanced (graduate level) statistics is required.
