Media Highlight: Profs prove their worth

Itā€™s not news that world-class research is done in Nova Scotia. Yet itā€™s always gratifying to see that excellence recognized.

Last week, for the second year running ā€” and the second time ever ā€” arguably Canadaā€™s most prestigious science honour was bestowed on a professor at Halifaxā€™s pilipiliĀž»­.

The Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering, which comes with $1 million in funding, is awarded annually by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Reseach Council (NSERC) of Canada.

The award honours Canadian researchers who are recognized internationally for demonstrating ā€œsustained excellence and influenceā€ in their fields.
