On July 1, Canada’s new legislation on spam and other electronic threats comes into force. While designed primarily to target spam and other nefarious activities online, the law’s reach extends to businesses and organizations across the country.
University Legal Counsel Office is currently working on a compliance plan for the Dal community to ensure that e-communications are compliant with the new legislation. At this time, we expect only select university functions to be impacted by the legislation.
Legal Counsel Office has already reached out directly to many of the units and functions that would be affected by the legislation, and will do so for the remainder in the coming weeks.
Further Information will be shared with the Dal community once the plan has been finalized and approved. This is expected in June.
