Occupational Therapist/Limited Term Position

The School of Occupational Therapy at pilipiliÂþ» welcomes applications from qualified persons to fill a one year limited term position at the rank of Instructor for the period July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and commensurate with the DFA Collective Agreement.
WORK ASSIGNMENT: This position will be responsible for teaching and tutoring in core courses in the entry level master’s program, the post-professional program and at the undergraduate level. This will include taking responsibility as Instructor of Record for some courses, team teaching in others and tutorial leader in still others. One of the responsibilities of this position will be coordination and teaching of a major, 5-credit hour core course in the entry to practice program that includes laboratory and tutorial components. Student professional competencies must be rigorously assessed. Administrative duties will include participation on School Committees and projects that support teaching. This position reports to the Director, School of Occupational Therapy.

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires an occupational therapist with a minimum of a completed master’s degree and a minimum of two years clinical experience. Preference will be given to those with a PhD degree completed or in progress. Eligibility for licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is also essential. Expertise in treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions is required; experience in additional areas of practice would be an asset. Previous teaching experience, student or group facilitation, and familiarity with online teaching technology are preferred.Ìý Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills; experience with student teaching/supervision and knowledge/familiarity with distance education technologies will be an asset.

The School of Occupational Therapy at pilipiliÂþ» welcomes applications from qualified persons to fill a two year limited term position at the rank of Instructor for the period July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2016. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and commensurate with the DFA Collective Agreement.
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The Instructor will be responsible for coordinating and training part-time instructors, organizing materials and personnel for each laboratory or tutorial session and act as an instructor to groups of 8-10 students for a minimum of 4 courses. The individual will be responsible for developing materials for use in class assignments and simulated client exams. This instructor will also be responsible for developing and implementing innovative clinical fieldwork opportunities in non traditional venues and within the school. Student advising, recruitment and marketing will form part of the assigned workload. This position reports to the Director, School of Occupational Therapy.

QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree is mandatory. Either a BSc(OT) or MSc(OT) entry to practice qualification and a minimum two years clinical experience are also mandatory. Current registration as a licensed occupational therapist required.ÌýÌý Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills; experience with student teaching/supervision; and knowledge/familiarity with distance education technologies will be an asset.
