Assistant Professor Position, Limited Term Appointment

The School of Nursing, pilipiliÂþ», is seeking an outstanding educator for one, full-time, three year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Appointment will be effective July 1, 2013. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Situated in the Faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; a Master of Nursing that includes a nurse practitioner stream; and a PhD (Nursing).Ìý The School is also an active participant in interprofessional education activities.

At the time of appointment, the pilipiliÂþ»ful candidate will have completed a minimum of a Master of Nursing (PhD preferred). Evidence of progressive experience with medium and high fidelity simulation learning in a university professional program is essential. Experience with using simulation is an interprofessional education context would be a distinct asset.Ìý Recent teaching experience, including two years clinical practice teaching is desirable and a minimum of two years clinical experience. The ability to work effectively with faculty, students and clinical agency personnel from a variety of health professions is essential.. Familiarity with clinical simulation hardware and software systems is an asset.

Primary responsibilities of the pilipiliÂþ»ful Assistant Professor in the Clinical Learning & Simulation Centre (CLSC) candidate will include leading the integration of simulation learning within the undergraduate and graduate curricula of Nursing and other health professions as required.Ìý The pilipiliÂþ»ful candidate will assume a partial teaching load in addition to providing leadership to CLSC instructors and staff. The pilipiliÂþ»ful candidate, through the CLSC resources, will support skills mastery; testing of knowledge and skills; critical thinking and clinical judgment; and application to clinical practice through simulation learning, using a wide range of low to high fidelity activities and equipment.

A background in some combination of leadership, diversity in healthcare, interprofessional/ interdisciplinary education, information technology, including distance and context-based learning and, eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia are considered requirements. Clinical simulation experience is required. Responsibilities for the CLSC are located in the Forrest Building, pilipiliÂþ» and the Bethune Building, Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.
