Darrell Cochrane will be retiring from the University in March. Darrell joined Dalhousieās Financial Services Department in 1984 and since that time has accepted increased responsibility for overseeing the financial operations of the University. Dalhousie has benefitted greatly from Darrellās financial acumen, longstanding experience and impeccable work ethic. His skills in University financial administration have extended well beyond Dalhousie and in 2010 Darrell was honored with the Ken Clements Distinguished Administrator Award. This award is presented by the Canadian Association of University Business Officers and is one of the most prestigious awards in the Canadian university sector recognizing extraordinary leadership and contributions to the association and all member institutions drawing on the services offered through CAUBO on a daily basis.
Darrellās contributions to Dalhousie are numerous as he has served on a range of committees and working groups outside of those related directly to finance and is frequently sought out by many in the University community to provide his wise counsel on issues and strategy. In short, Darrellās 29 years of service to Dalhousie have been truly outstanding! We wish him well as he will be pursing his interest in public accounting. Please join us in wishing Darrell the very best going forward. There will be a suitable occasion for us to express our gratitude and best wishes to our friend and colleague in the coming weeks and a notice will be sent out once the details are finalized.
