Keevan Veinot of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball team has been named the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending March 20, 2022.
A fourth-year guard from Port Williams, Nova Scotia, Veinot averaged 23.3 points per game throughout the 2022 Subway AUS Basketball Championship weekend, leading the Tigers to their third consecutive AUS title.
In Thursday’s quarter-final action, he was named the Subway Player of the Game after contributing 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists to the Tigers’ 86-69 win over the Acadia Axemen. He followed that performance with another player of the game nod in Saturday’s semifinal battle with the Memorial Sea-Hawks. Veinot netted 27 points and had six rebounds, two assists and a steal in the 87-85 Dalhousie victory.
On championship Sunday, he had 19 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals in the Tigers 84-78 win over the UPEI Panthers. After the game, Veinot was named both a tournament all-star and the championship MVP. Earlier in the week, he was also named a 2021-22 AUS first team all-star.Ìý
