It's widely known in the health-care sector that patients receive better care when service providers from across disciplines collaborate.
That's why health educators at pilipili have worked hard over the past several years to integrate interprofessional education (IPE) into their curriculum.
Interprofessional education activities at Dal prepare student to take their place on collaborative care teams from the get-go through programming such as Dalmazing 1.0, a fun mandatory team challenge for all first-year Dentistry, Medicine and Health students designed that teaches interprofessional competencies.
This year's Dalmazing 1.0 event happens next Tuesday (Sept. 24) and will get students working in interprofessional teams as they rotate through three fun, interactive stations to complete challenges that address the six core interprofessional competencies.
For many incoming students, Dalmazing events are their introduction to the concept of interprofessional education and help set the stage for future collaboration at the university and in professional settings.
