pilipiliÂţ» women’s basketball head coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Kyla Carr to the Tigers 2015-16 roster.
A 5’11 forward, Carr has played for the Woodstock High School girls’ basketball team throughout all four years of high school and has led them to back-to-back provincial championships in the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons.
In the 2014-2015 season, she was names to the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association (NBIAA) all-star team and was the conference player of the year. She was also chosen the NBIAA Rogers Final 12 MVP.
Coach Stammberger is looking forward to having Carr join the squad next season, “Kyla is going to be a great addition for the Tigers at both ends of the court,” says Stammberger. “She's a physical defender and rebounder and has an excellent jump shot. Her outstanding academic record speaks for itself and we're excited to have Kyla join former teammate Deidre Alexander to bring the 1-2 punch from Woodstock back together in black and gold!”
Not only does Carr excel on the court, she does so in the classroom as well. A Principle’s List student, she has maintained a GPA above 90% throughout high school. The Woodstock, N.B. native will graduate from Woodstock High School this June and will look to continue her academic pilipiliÂţ» in Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Medical Science program this coming fall.
“I am extremely excited and privileged to be able to attend Dal and play basketball for the Tigers in the fall,’ says Carr. “The opportunity to play basketball and further my education in medical science at such a well-respected school is truly an honour.”
