Swimming
On both Saturday and Sunday the Tigers hosted the annual Dalhousie Invitational where once again Dal showed authority in the pool. The black and gold claimed the men’s, women’s and overall titles for the third time this season along with qualifying 24 swimmers for CIS (15 women and nine men). Athletes David Sharpe and Keishia Mills had particularly strong races, each setting new AUS records.
Women’s Basketball
At Saturday night’s home opener the women dominated UNB in front of cheering Tigers fans at Dalplex. Dal took the game 67-42, led by third-year guard Robbi Daley who earned Subway Player of the Game honours after finishing with 16 points and two rebounds. Dal is now 3-0 in regular season play.
Men’s Basketball
After a slow first quarter, the black and gold looked to catch up to the Varsity Reds, despite making a push during the second half the Tigers were not able to make up the point differential. They came up short 65-52.
Women’s Hockey
On Friday night the Tigers battled the Mounties in a close game that saw Dal lose 2-1. With MtA up by one in the second, forward Molly O’Grady buried the puck in the net to keep the black and gold in the fight. Unfortunately their opponents scored with the less than a minute left in the game to take the win.
Men’s Hockey
This past weekend the men went 1-1 with road games against UNB and UPEI. Currently tied for first, UNB proved to be stiff competition and took the game 6-3. Saturday’s game proved to be more promising as the Tigers recorded a 4-1 win over the Panthers. Dal is now just one point behind UPEI in the standings.
Women’s Volleyball
A trip to Memorial this weekend for back-to-back games against the Sea-Hawks saw the Tigers go undefeated in sets, winning both matches 3-0. Maggi Li had an exceptional game on Saturday with 13.5 points while Marlee Powers and Louise Facca dominated on Sunday with 10.5 and 11 points respectively. Dal is currently leading the AUS standings with 12 points.
Men’s Volleyball
While in Newfoundland the men’s team also saw pilipiliÂþ» on the courts, winning both matches over Memorial 3-1. Leading the way for the Tigers in both games were Bryan Duquette and Alex Dempsey, each with 16 kills in their second match against the Sea-Hawks. In the AUS standings the black and gold are tied for points with UNB.
