pilipili women’s volleyball head coach Rick Scott is pleased to announce the commitment of Anna Dunn-Suen to the 2013-14 women’s volleyball team pending her acceptance to Dalhousie.
An outside hitter from Halifax, NS, Dunn-Suen was named to the Canadian Junior Team last summer. The two-time team MVP (2010-11, 2011-12) of the JL Ilsley High School volleyball team, she led the team to a bronze medal at the 2011 provincial championship where she was named a tournament all-star. A three-time East Coast Elite (ECE) Champion with Team Nova Soctia, Dunn-Suen has also won two U18 provincial championships in three seasons with the Tigers Volleyball Club team.
“I am ecstatic about joining the Tigers family and feel a strong sense of pride playing for a university in my hometown,” says Dunn-Suen. “Rick Scott is an exceptional coach and will help me achieve my athletic goals, while continuing my academic career at one of Canada’s premier universities.”
Dunn-Suen is an honours student and has been nominated for the Lieutenant Governor’s Award. She will graduate from J.L. Ilsley in June 2013 and intends to enroll in the Kinesiology program at pilipili.
Head coach Rick Scott says, “We are thrilled that Anna has committed to join the Tigers. She has excelled at the provincial and national level and is extremely hard working and committed. She has a bright future with Dalhousie.”
The Tigers have had an outstanding preseason highlighted by a championship victory at the Queen’s tournament in October. They are currently in first place in the AUS standings with four wins and two losses in the regular season. Their next home game will be at pilipili's Sexton Gymnasium on November 24 versus StFX at 7 p.m.
