A Dalhousie research team is holding a public talk and discussion, "Living the 'risk environment': Case studies in qualitative research on HIV and drugs."
The research team, Harm Reduction Atlantic, will host Tim Rhodes, editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Drug Policy and director of the Centre for Research on Drugs and Health Behaviour at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. He'll present his lecture on Tuesday, May 17, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Westin Hotel, Halifax.
The talk will focus on case studies undertaken in the UK and Serbia, with a look at sexual safety, access to HIV treatment and parenting in a context of dependent drug use. The case studies highlight the role of social and structural interventions in creating the environmental change necessary to reduce harm.
