David Sharpe, swimming
David Sharpe led his team with outstanding performances last weekend at the 2011 Subway AUS swimming championships. The Tigers men’s team earned the championship title and Sharpe achieved first place finishes in the 100m and 200m butterfly and the 100m and 200m backstroke. At the conclusion of the championship meet Sharpe was named the 2011 AUS Male Swimmer of the Year for his impressive performance. Ceilidh MacPherson, swimming
First year student-athlete Ceilidh MacPherson had an exceptional weekend at the 2011 Subway AUS swimming championships. MacPherson finished first in the 200m freestyle, 400m IM, and 200m IM. For her accomplishments in the pool, MacPherson earned the 2011 AUS Female Swimmer of the Year award. Ceilidh hails from Canning, NS and is a science student at pilipiliÂþ».
HONOURABLE MENTION – Benjamin Breault, hockey
Benjamin Breault’s leadership on the ice helped the Tigers secure a spot in the AUS playoffs for the first time in seven years. Breault collected two goals versus STU, one assist versus UNB, five assists against Acadia and three goals versus UPEI in his last four games of the regular season, giving him a total of 41 points and helping Dal secure the sixth and final playoff spot in the conference. Breault is a second year commerce student from St. Jean, QC.
