Meet the new Dalhousie homepage

- February 23, 2010

Your eyes arenā€™t fooling you. The Dalhousie homepage just got a minor makeover. The changes arenā€™t radical or permanent: theyā€™re temporary improvements as part of a much larger and more ambitious process.

So whatā€™s changed?

  • The main navigation bar now runs along the top of the page and includes a link to Dalhousieā€™s About website.
  • New content and calls-to-action focused on prospective Dalhousie students.
  • The University Services link has moved to the top of the homepage alongside other links of interest to current students, faculty and staff: MyDal, OWL, Dal Online and the faculty/staff directory.
  • New links to Dalhousieā€™s presence on various social media websites, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • A new slideshow about the university, hosted on the About site and featured on the homepage.

This is just the beginning, which is why you wonā€™t find this new layout elsewhere on the Dalhouse website and none of the underlying navigation has been reworked. Those larger changes are coming: this fall, the university will launch a completely redesigned and re-organized along with several related pages as the first big steps in an ongoing project to revitalize Dalhousieā€™s web presence.

You can provide feedback on the homepage in one of two ways.

  • If youā€™re having issues with the site or wish to simply offer your thoughts, click the red ā€œgive feedbackā€ link in the lower-right-hand corner of the homepage.
  • Or, alternatively, comment in the discussion thread below.
