Time to go all Lady Gaga and get dressed up for a good cause.

Trick or Eat, a food drive conducted by students around 66 university and college campuses throughout Canada, is on again this year at pilipiliĀž». Last year, almost 200 students took part, filling a U-Haul with almost $14,000 worth of food. All the collected food stuffs go to Food Nova Scotia.

Organizer Michelle Honsberger, a third-year commerce student, was blown away by the turnout.

ā€œWeā€™ve got high hopes this year,ā€ says Ms. Honsberger, from the office of Gammon Gold where sheā€™s on a co-op placement. ā€œAll the participants were so enthusiastic and it was such a fun time.ā€

Participants are urged to sign up online (see link below) or simply show up. Students will be meeting on Halloween ā€“ this year on a Saturday ā€“ at 4 p.m. at the Rowe Building. Shopping carts and routes through nearby neighborhoods will be assigned. Of course, students are encouraged to dress up.

ā€œIn the neighbourhoods, I think sometimes students get a bad rap,ā€ says Ms. Honsberger, who has her Colonel Sanders costume ready. ā€œBut Trick or Eat is a good chance to do something nice and get involved with your neighbours as well.ā€
