- September 17, 2008

Hansel and Gretel is a fairytale of Germanic origin and adapted by the Brothers Grimm.

If you’re interested in picking up a new course before Friday, Sept. 19—the deadline for adding or dropping classes—you might want to follow the bread crumbs to (GERM 1080).

The course will examine some of the most famous fairy tales, including Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. By comparing different versions of the stories, students will examine how the stories evolved over time. Students will also discuss the influence of fairy tale imagery in the visual arts, film, music and advertising.

Instructor Doris McGonagill welcomes new students to the class. While offered through the Department of German, the class is taught entirely in English and all readings are in English.  It also fulfills the writing requirement.

For more information about the class, please get in touch with Prof. McGonagill at Doris.McGonagill@dal.ca.
