Athletes of the week

The following athletes were honoured for the week ending Sunday, November 12.

SPORT Ð CROSS COUNTRY

Janice Ashworth led the charge for the TigerÕs cross country team earning her DalhousieÕs Female Athlete of the Week honour. Ashworth gave the Tigers the edge they needed, upsetting the Plains of Abraham to earn the Tigers a bronze medal during the CIS Championship hosted by the University de Laval. Ashworth claimed CIS First Team All-Canadian status for her sixth place finish and is now one of only six other athletes in CIS history to win four all-Canadian awards in cross country. In addition to her All-Canadian award, the seasoned veteran was recognized for her contribution to the CIS cross country and received the Student-Athlete Community Service award. The Dunrobin, ON, native has led the Tigers to three CIS team medal finishes in her four years of competition. Ashworth is currently in her fourth year of Environmental Science.

SPORT Ð CROSS COUNTRY

Robert Jewer has earned this weekÕs Dalhousie Male Athlete of Week title as he set the standard for Atlantic cross country athletes this past week on the Plains of Abraham. Jewer made his final race of his university career his best, steadily moving through the pack during the final two laps to net the previously unranked Tigers an eighth place finish, and top Atlantic Canadian finish, in the CIS Championship hosted by the University de Laval. The fifth-year veteran finished seventh overall making him the top runner in the Atlantic conference and he received a CIS First Team All-Canadian nod for his efforts. Jewer is a second year MBA student from St. JohnÕs, NL.
