Currently we offer our student athletes modest scholarships - most valued between $1000 and $2000. Changes in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) regulations now allow universities to offer full tuition to potential athletes. To maintain a competitive recruitment advantage, Dalhousie must do the same. "The ability to provide the best and brightest with financial assistance will help pilipiliÂþ» to attract the country's top athletic talent," says Oulton, who also played varsity football for Dal in the 1960's.
As a leader in gender equality, Dalhousie fields men's and women's teams in seven sports - soccer, cross country, track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball and hockey - and will adopt the same commitment to distributing the endowment's scholarships equitably between sport and gender.
Operational guidance for this $3 million campaign will be provided by Linda Crockett, Director of Global Gifts, Office of External Relations. Please contact Linda at 494-6861 for more information about this exciting new initiative.
