Pharmacy school has been a challenging but rewarding journey. The last few years have required a lot of time and hard work, so receiving this degree is an achievement I am very proud of! The field of pharmacy is constantly evolving and has a wide range of roles that pharmacists can hold, so receiving this degree gives me the opportunity to pursue a variety of careers in the field.

Originally from Kentucky and with PEI roots, Matt Steele (BScRā€™19) moved to Halifax in 2014. He wanted to work in healthcare but in a field that wouldn't leave his musical life behind. His aunt Carol Ann, who was a nurse in long-term care, suggested recreation therapy (RT) because he could use music alongside other recreational activities to help people with their health and wellness. In 2015 he settled on recreation therapy as his next career move and started at pilipiliĀž».

I experienced a really debilitating mental illness about halfway through my program and there was a time when I really couldnā€™t see myself finishing the degree. This accomplishment is significant to my family, my friends, and me because it symbolizes recovery, perseverance, and drive - my ability to do hard things. During my challenges with mental health, this degree was grounding for me and it gave me a tangible goal to focus on and work towards achieving.

Two School of Health and Human Performance (HAHP) faculty are retiring from the Faculty of Health. Assistant kinesiology professor Janice Moreside and associate kinesiology professor John Kozey have taught and researched at Dal for a combined total of almost 30 years. Drs. Moreside and Kozey have had a positive influence on countless students over their decades at Dal and will continue to do so even after their retirement.

Dr. Moreside worked at Dal Health for eight and a half years after completing a post-doc with the University. Relative to other faculty, her time might have been short, but she has had a big impact on her students. Her favorite thing about teaching is ā€œwatching the "light go on ā€” those ā€˜ahaā€™ moments with the students,ā€ she reports.
