Description
The program is designed to support world-class students pursuing doctoral degrees at Canadian universities. The scholarship awards $50,000 per year for three years. The program is open to both Canadian and international students. You must be nominated by the Canadian university at which you plan to study. Up to 166 scholarships will be awarded annually.Â
You are strongly encouraged to speak with your proposed or current supervisor and graduate coordinator to indicate you are planning to apply for this award.  If you are selected for nomination by the institutional review committee, you will require a letter of support from your Department Head, so it is important to ensure your application will be supported at the department/program level before FGS makes this request. Once this has been established, you may proceed to the to complete the application.
Eligibility criteria
You must be pursuing doctoral studies. You may have already started your program or will begin your program in the future.
Canadian and international students are eligible.
You must be nominated by Dalhousie.Â
Selection criteria considers academic excellence, research potential and leadership.Â

- The Vanier competition typically opens in mid-June each year and you must submit your application through by Dalhousie's institutional deadline.
