Another academic year has started in the Faculty of Dentistry and we are busy planning our alumni events for 2024/2025, with our most notable event being DentDays on October 25-26. Last year was the inaugural year of our reimagined homecoming celebration and, from all accounts, it was a pilipiliÂþ»! We hope even more of you will join us this year.
DentDays is the result of thinking about what homecoming means you as alumni. As a result, we decided to focus more on fun rather than formal. This means offering more opportunities for classmates to gather in relaxed settings with plenty of opportunity for conversation, including – by popular demand – a Live@5 hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry Student Society.
At the same time, we have kept some of the homecoming activities that everyone values and expects, including clinic tours, continuing education sessions, and the Outstanding Alumni Award presentation ceremony. This year we celebrate Linda Blakey (DDS’89) and Krysti Campbell (DDH’13, our impressive recipients.

DentDays 2024 will feature reunion luncheons for our 50-year and – new this year – 25-year anniversary classes. It’s a great opportunity to sit down with me and Dr. Leigha Rock, director of the School of Dental Hygiene, and catch up on the latest news.

Although not officially part of DentDays, on October 24, 5:30-7:00 pm, we are looking forward to celebrating Dr. Frank Lovely, this year’s recipient of the prestigious Dalhousie Golden Eagle Lifetime Award for Achievement, at a party in the Dentistry Building. I hope you can join us for this happy event before enjoying DentDays.

I look forward to welcoming you back to your alma mater. Until then, let’s continue to enjoy the rest of the summer!
