Grant P. Floyd

Grant Pearson Floyd is a name easily recognized by anyone knowledgeable about quality Holstein livestock in Atlantic Canada.

Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, he acquired ownership of the family farm in 1950 and went on to develop one of the top quality dairy farms in the region. A recipient of many prestigious awards, the herd is well known for its production records.

A long time member of many community and agricultural organizations, he has sung in the choir of St. Paul's United. Church, been a member of the Board of Stewards, an elder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Sussex Golf and Curling Club and the Sussex Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Floyd is Past President of the Sussex Holstein Club and a keen supporter of 4-H. He has served as President of the New Brunswick branch of the Holstein Association and as a director and President of the National organization.

He was founding President of the Saint John Area Milk Foundation, later called the New Brunswick Milk Foundation, President of the Milk Producers' Association, served on the Dairy Products Commission and the Canadian Milk Supply Management Committee.

An exporter of cattle to Europe, Cuba, South America, Asia and the United States, Grant Floyd was the first inductee into the New Brunswick Dairy Hall of Fame, was the 1951 Maritime Stockbrokers Farmer of the Year and a recipient of the Louis Hebert Award of the N.B. Institute of Agrologists.

Grant Floyd is married to the former Jivian S. Taylor and they have one son, Donald.

Nominated by the New Brunswick branch of the Holstein Association, Grant Pearson Floyd is a deserving candidate for induction into The Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame
