A call has been issued by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education for proposals to the Norwegian Government’s High North Programme.
The goal of the Programme is to expand, strengthen and disseminate knowledge about or relevant to the High North. Its objectives include increasing and strengthening higher education cooperation about matters relevant to the High North, between institutions in Norway and in Canada, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and the U.S. This includes increasing the number of jointly developed courses, programmes and degrees as well as increasing mobility of students and faculty.
Higher education institutions in Canada are eligible to serve as partner institutions in these projects. Proposals may also involve cooperation with research institutes and non‐ governmental organizations, public agencies or private companies. Under this call, two types of proposals with Canadian partners will be accepted:
- long‐term project cooperation (4 years in duration, budgets up to 2 million NOK / approx. C$350,000)
- limited cooperation activities (2 years in duration, budgets up to 300,000 NOK / approx. C$50,000)
Full guidelines and information about this call are available at: . Note that applications must be led and submitted by Norwegian institutions.
Any Dal faculty members with interests in High North issues, who have established links with Norwegian colleagues, are asked to contact Jennifer Morawiecki in IR&D (Jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for further information and support.
Those interested in this opportunity should also be aware of an upcoming event on Norway-Canada collaboration: the Transatlantic Science Week being held in Toronto from 27-29 October. This is an annual conference for collaboration in research, innovation and higher education between Norway, the US and Canada, hosted by the Norwegian Embassy. In 2014, the conference will be in Canada for the first time, and the main focus will be on collaboration between Norway and Canada in Arctic-related topics. See for more information.
